Julie Small has partnered with Linda Holysh to create unique and different pieces for your home. Pieces can be placed either indoors or outdoors and work equally well in a modern or rustic setting. All pieces are fashioned with reclaimed barn board. Julie and Linda have spent many hours sourcing the highest quality pieces, each selected for their unique qualities. All barn board used comes from Ontario farms.
Julie and Linda developed their working relationship during their collaboration through Julie’s home staging business Jms Home Staging & Design, www.jmshomestaging.com. Julie and Linda have known each other for many years, their children are friends and go to the same school.
Julie and Linda bring a passion to this design and are excited to share some pieces with you.
Reclaimed barn boards are unique. They are aged naturally. Being exposed to different weather conditions such as rain, sun, snow, heat and cold makes their unique character evident. The colour of the barn boards range from brown to silver gray, depending on orientation and exposure to sun.
Meticulous attention to the recovery and further processing of these barn boards (removing nails, cleaning, brushing, etc.) guarantees the protection of the original surface. This preserves the charm and character of each piece. No two pieces are the same. Despite the weathering, the barn boards are structurally stable.
An abundance of history comes with each piece. Many of the boards used come from barns dating back to the 1800’s.
When you purchase a unique hand crafted barn board piece from Rustick Dezigns, you are also acquiring a little piece of Canadian heritage.
